Seminar Participant Objectives
Seminar participants will learn current and emerging methods of translational science. Participants will be divided into project teams. Each project team will participate in the definition of the analysis, data and methods required to conduct their project. They will also identify the software packages to conduct the analysis of the project, implement the software, execute their analysis and develop and implement project simulations, analysis and results. Each group will have access to the amazon web service cloud environment to conduct computational simulation and analysis.
Each team will develop a Project Plan with translational science statement, references to preliminary and related work, preliminary project objectives, and a brief discussion regarding the scientific background of the project. The first assignment will be to refine the project plan into a translational science project plan consistent with the team’s review of the readings and preliminary results. Hypothesis, specific aims, background, research statement, methods, and timeline will be required components of the final project plan.
Seminar Project Directors
Seminar project directors will coordinate their team’s objectives, milestones and results. Teams will meet regularly (through skype or other internet meeting forum as needed). They will provide three project presentations (two preliminary results and one final) to the Seminar Directors.
